The modern technique, known as hot stamping<\/a><\/strong>, was first conceived in the late 19th century. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Today, it is leveraged to create visual interest and increase the perceived value of products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A foil is a thin film coated with the colors that are applied to a product through a process known as hot stamping. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The pigment is placed on a clear film, which acts as a carrier that transfers the color onto the product.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Another layer of the foil consists of pigmented sediments, and a third layer is a heat-activated adhesive that sticks the sediments onto the product.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The foiling die on which your design is etched is heated and stamped with high pressure to bond a thin layer of foil to the substrate. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As foil stamping doesn\u2019t use ink, the foil color is not impacted by the color of the substrate upon which the design is applied. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
