The Barrys were a family with a passion for playing board games and the creativity to invent one if it wasn’t available. When their grandfather, Mike, needed a hip replacement and couldn’t move, the family spent much of their time by his side. Naturally, board and card games were the perfect way to pass the time, and before the Barrys knew it, the rules of Brink was born.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Challenge<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

As a small, growing company, the biggest challenge was to find high-quality packaging that wouldn’t break the bank. Their goal with Brink was to bring family and friends together and create an environment of friendly competition and laughter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since the box was going to fit miniature-sized playing cards, it had to be a box that could provide a safe enclosure that was convenient and unbreakable while also providing the most cost-effective option.<\/p>\n\n\n

The Solution<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

With the help of PakFactory’s Product Specialist, Brink was able to decide on a structure that worked best for their packaging goal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After several rounds of structural and artwork changes, a paperboard gusset folder was the best option for the small cards due to its lower cost, better protection, and faster production time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The final specification was an 18PT gusset folder with a locking feature, Full-Color CMYK, and Matte Lamination.<\/p>\n\n\n

The Results<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

With the beautiful illustration designed by Kai Berry, Co-Owner of Brink and structural design by PakFactory, customers were surprised by their capabilities as a small business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Not only were the structure of the cards were perfect, but the box was able to elevate their brand, show their creativity through the packaging, and resonate with potential customers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After finalizing their packaging and the game was launched, Brink was able to reach customers across various continents, and the Kickstarter project was able to raise thousands of dollars.<\/p>\n\n\n
