How Budy Farms Replicated a Premium Metallic Look for Less

Budy Farms CBD is a cannabis brand founded by Heath Hillman and built around natural terpenes, with four product lines for relief, energy, dream, and calm. Its challenge was recreating a distinctive metallic look on its boxes without the cost and complexity of its original local manufacturer.

Challenges

In a crowded CBD market, the shelf is won or lost on looks, and a distinctive finish is often the first thing a shopper notices. Heath had already nailed that look on his dropper-bottle labels, but getting it onto the boxes affordably is where he kept hitting walls. Budy Farms came to PakFactory with three things to solve.

  • Could a box match the metallic look of the labels?
The dropper-bottle labels had a striking metallic finish and Heath wanted the boxes to match them exactly.
  • Could that finish fit a growing brand's budget?
High minimums or high prices kept the look that Heath loved out of reach.
  • Could a full four-line range launch together?
With eight SKUs across the Relief, Energy, Dream, and Calm lines, every design had to be produced in step, on time and on budget.

Solutions

Recreating that metallic look on a box took more than a single press run. We started with a metallic paper stock and flood-colored it, then printed the artwork over that colored metallic base so the design kept the reflective quality of the original labels. A matte coating sealed the print, and a spot gloss picked out specific details so they catch the light, delivering the same eye-popping effect Heath had on his dropper bottles, now on the box itself.

A finish like this usually comes with high minimums or high prices, and Heath's budget had room for neither. We took on this project at a price a growing brand could carry and rather than ask Heath to commit blind, we had a printed prototype in his hands within three days. Seeing the real thing that fast gave him the confidence to move ahead without gambling his budget on an unproven look.

With four product lines and eight SKUs to produce, the last risk was coordination. Every design had to run through that same multi-step metallic process and arrive together, on time and on budget. Careful project management kept the whole range moving in step, so Budy Farms could launch its full lineup at once instead of staggering it or watching costs creep as the SKUs added up.

Result

On the shelf, the boxes almost shimmer, the metallic stock and spot gloss giving Budy Farms a look that stops a shopper mid-aisle. A finish that seemed out of reach became the brand's signature across its whole range. For a growing brand, standing out does not have to mean overspending.
