Working in the hair extension industry for over a decade, Dafina Smith, the founder of Covet and Mane noticed that clients were often disgruntled by the inconsistencies in quality and supply of hand-tied hair extensions.

They decided to change that by collaborating with the industry’s most innovative stylists to create a unique line of hand-tied hair extensions, exceeding others through consistency and quality control giving customers hair they can rely on.

“No matter what level you are in your career, the challenges are all the same – your work is only as good as the hair your work with”

On a mission to overcome the known problems in the hair extension industry, Covet & Mane distinguishes itself through three main features:

  1. Proprietary cut-point wefts to allow stylists to cut and tailor extensions without weft unraveling or shedding
  2. Silicone-free for a more natural look and feel and greater blending
  3. Expertly-sourced hair that is meticulously dyed to get a natural cool, brass-free colors that are fade-resistant

The Challenge

With determination to reach the top of their industry, Dafina knew she needed to provide the absolute best customer service and product quality. This starts from providing customers a tailored unboxing experience that matches the company’s brand, product and message.

High quality products need to remain high quality, even through shipping and handling. Because they anticipated shipping higher quantities, they knew they needed something sustainable, cost-effective and durable.

With many different packaging types to choose from, Dafina ventured onto PakFactory.com, found and submitted a request for a quote for the most popular printed corrugated mailer, which is an excellent option for keeping products safe, while made from a high percentage of post-consumer content.

The Solution

Getting in touch with Karen Tam, a Senior Packaging Specialist at PakFactory, Dafina was able to quickly get project quoted and get dielines made for her packaging. The prototyping stage began thereafter previewing her printed box in 3D and receiving her physical prototypes in the mail.

With two-sided printing, Covet and Mane is print their logo in a minimal fashion while declaring their statement to all of their customers:

“A stylist is only as good as the hair they work with & our hair is only as good as the stylist who works with it.”

After receiving the physical prototype, they ordered their first packaging order of 1,500 boxes, the first of many orders as Covet and Mane grows its business through quality, consistent products and a great customer experience.
